Xiaomi rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to its Mi A1 device offering in late December 2017, but the update also came with unwanted bugs that brought with them issues with the camera, dialer and Recent apps, fingerprint sensor, and battery life, recent reports indicate. To address these concerns, the Chinese consumer electronics company has now suspended the rollout of the update to Mi A1.
Users who received the update on their Mi A1 took to Xiaomi’s forums to report that they have encountered problems right after installing Android Oreo on their phone. For instance, mobile update notifications were gone after some Mi A1 phones were upgraded to Android Oreo.
The bugs also prevented the dialer app from responding or functioning as intended like delaying calls. This was apparently caused by the MyJio application. Fortunately, there’s now a workaround provided at Xiaomi’s forum page.
Moreover, other users reported excessive battery drain on their phone once Bluetooth is switched on. Other recently reported issues with the Mi A1 following the Oreo update include sound and calling issues, apps not responding or crashing, faulty navigation keys, buggy fingerprint scanner, missing gesture settings, mobile data freezing, and ambient display issues.
